Open Garden & Secret Craft Fair 2016

There’s a lot going on in Loughborough this weekend, with three gardens (including ours) open to the public for charity, and activities on campus. You’ll find information here about what’s on where, and this is where you’ll find information about the folk taking part in the Secret Craft Fair on Herrick Road.

Artist Helen Rhodes is bringing her drawings, prints, ceramics and notebooks.  Helen’s unique paintings and illustrations are instantly recognizable, her work combines intensely rich colours, textures and patterns with naïve compositions.

Little Bird SOS, a non-profit Social Enterprise with a focus on arts and crafts for health and wellbeing, will be yarn-bombing the apple tree, and bringing lots of hand made eco friendly craft goodies, plus running drop-in crafting activities.

Jewellery fans will have a great time, with two folk to find fabulous new pieces from.

Hannah Smith designs and creates unusual handmade precious metal jewellery, often incorporating flowers or insects. Her range ‘Geode’ is made by the gases created when heating silver, giving a small explosion and a resultant bubble in the silver, into which she places a drop of 18 ct gold.

Angieszka Maksymiuk makes jewellery inspired by architecture and nature, as small sculptures and pieces of art. Her new collection is inspired by the landscapes of England and Poland. Her other collection called Organic Jewellery is very feminine and delicate in a lace shape.

Dr Rose Deakin of The Crop Club will be in The Shed at the bottom of the garden with a range of sustainable growing kits to encourage children to grow food at home and connect with nature.

There will be hand made willow plant supports, cushions and other house & garden items by The Doing Room. Transition Loughborough will also be here on Sunday with practical advice and information about sustainable living.

There will of course be cake, plants for sale & lots more to see & do. Check out the flyers for all the details, addresses etc.
