NGS Open Garden Days & Secret Craft Fair

This year our NGS Open Gardens are part of a larger community led event, called Grow Loughborough. You can read all about the artists, organisations and groups involved on the website.

This is the background to how Grow grew….

In 2013 I was delighted to get our garden into the National Gardens Scheme – known to many as the ‘Yellow Book, and to be the first garden in the town of Loughborough to take part. As well as the open garden we held a Secret Craft Fair.

In 2014 the number of gardens grew, and in 2016 there will be three gardens opening over the weekend, 134 & 94 Herrick Road and 47 Parklands Drive, 12-5pm on the 11th June & 11-5pm on the 12th June 2016.

In 2017 both the award winning orchard project Fruit Routes and the Student Allotment were open to the public at nearby Loughborough University, completing the weekend celebrating gardens, growing, wellbeing and creativity in Loughborough.

At The Secret Craft Fair at 134 Herrick Road artists & makers displayed work for sale among the plants, in the apple tree, the greenhouse – and used The Shed as a pop-up venue again.

The makers & artists were Helen Rhodes, The Doing RoomLittle Bird SOSHannah Smith, Angieszka Maksymiuk and The Crop Club .
